Learning

WEEKLY LESSONS

Learning to drive can be spread over several weeks and lessons can be booked individually or in a ten-lesson block at a discount. Lessons are one hour long (including 5 minute lesson brief and 10 minute lesson debrief). Learning materials are not included in the weekly lesson price, but can be purchased separately.

BRONZE COURSE

The Bronze Course consists of 15 hours tuition and is most suitable for those who are nearing test standard and just need a short burst of lessons prior to their test. It is also ideal for anyone who attempted a driving test some time ago but hasn’t had any lessons since. To be able to take your driving test at the end of this course, you will need to pass the theory test and book the course well in advance of your required start date, i.e. at least 4-6 weeks.

SILVER COURSE

The Silver Course consists of 25 hours tuition and is ideal for those who have already learned the basic control skills of driving. To be able to take your driving test at the end of this course, you will need to pass the theory test and book the course well in advance of your required start date, i.e. at least 4-6 weeks.

GOLD COURSE

The Gold Course consists of 35 hours tuition and this is spread over two or more weeks to suit you. This is the most popular and successful form of intensive training. It is designed for people who want to pass the test quickly but at a more comfortable pace. To be able to take your driving test at the end of this course, you will need to pass the theory test and book the course well in advance of your required start date, i.e. at least 4-6 weeks.

NB. You will be more likely to succeed if you have had some basic driving experience before embarking on this course.

TWO WEEK PASS COURSE

The Two Week Pass Course consists of 40 hours tuition and is ideal for anyone wanting to pass their driving test more promptly. To be able to take your driving test at the end of this course, you will need to pass the theory test and book the course well in advance of your required start date, i.e. at least 4-6 weeks.

NB. You will be more likely to succeed if you have had some basic driving experience before embarking on this course.

MOTORWAY LESSONS

Current legislation does not allow learner drivers to experience motorways. This means that your first time driving on a motorway or dual carriageway on the mainland after passing your test can be very daunting. Motorway lessons are structured to teach you how to drive safely and confidently on these busy highways. To make it more cost effective a minimum of two pupils will be required for a trip to the mainland.

Cost: standard one hour lesson rate plus equal share of ferry booking (minimum two pupils – maximum three pupils).

PASS PLUS

PASS PLUS is a voluntary driving course that you can undertake once you have passed your driving test. It has been designed by the Driving Standards Agency to develop the skills and knowledge of newly qualified drivers, broaden their driving experience and encourage safer and more positive driving. Once you have received your qualification, you will be eligible to receive one additional year’s no claims discount on your car insurance from participating insurance companies. PASS PLUS can only be taken during your first year as a qualified driver.

The training is divided into six modules, at least five of which are taught on the road. The practical sessions cover driving in town, rural roads, night driving, all weather driving, dual carriageways and motorways. However, more than six lessons may be required to reach the required standard.

Cost: standard one hour lesson rate plus separate trip to the mainland to cover dual carriageways and motorways (see below).

HOME VISIT

Stephen is happy to visit you at your home free of charge to discuss which course is best for you. If other family members are paying for the lessons, he would prefer to include them too.
